Dana Newell

Dana’s childhood dream was to be a lawyer (or so she thought). She graduated from the University of California Riverside with a B.A. in Philosophy. She went on to law school to pursue her goal of being a prosecutor, however, two years into law school she realized her true passion was motivating others and helping them move efficiently and without pain through CrossFit.
Dana was a competitive dancer for over 14 years and later worked as an instructor through undergrad. Also a gym rat in her past life, she has spent over eight years in the “globo” gym fitness industry (eight years too long!) and worked as a trainer to support herself through school. Two years ago she found CrossFit and fell in love with the objective, the people, and the effectiveness. Today she is CrossFit Level 1 Certified, an ISSA certified trainer, and is currently working on her CSCS. She has also taken part in the Gymnastics, Mobility and the Coaches Prep Seminars. She is still amazed that she gets paid to do what she loves.
I CrossFit because
I take part in strenous outdoor activities (mountain bike, backpack, ski, rock climbing) that demand I be in great shape, CrossFit best prepares me for all; the mountain, the water and for life. The community attracts awesome, fun loving people who are not afraid to work hard– my kind of people!
I Coach because
I love being a part of the physical change and emotional growth that take part in CrossFit. Being a part of that “a ha!” moment when an athlete starts to see their potential is amazing. Teaching an athlete how to move safety and effeciently can literally change their life. I am honored to be a part of the process.
My favorite “cheat” meal is
mashed potatoes (a true Idaho girl at heart)
My secret ninja exercise is
overhead squats.
My secret sucky exercise is
muscle-ups.
